Hey!

Jocelyn-Anne please find details here of how we’d go about delivering your new website. Any questions please do email us at hello@becreative.team

Let’s get into the details…

Existing Christians in Media website

22.6.23

We exclusively produce websites using Squarespace.

We believe it’s one of the easiest and most versatile platforms that exists. It allows for beautiful creative possibilities whilst being an intuitive visually led platform.

We’ve used Squarespace for over 8 years and have really enjoyed embracing the new features and possibilities the platform has presented as it’s developed over the years.

Below are some links to recent Squarespace builds we’ve made for churches and Christian organisations:

*Please note on occasion the managers of these sites can take them in a different direction than we would advise, but that’s their prerogative!

We’ve delivered Christian projects with:

Catalyst Vineyard (Scotland), Yorkshire Baptist Association, St Helen’s Parish Church, Bookham Baptist, UCAN, Church of England, The Well Sheffield, City Church, STC Sheffield, Golddigger Trust, Soulroots, Arise, Together for Sheffield, Ascend, CPO, Everyone Disciple One, Lancing Foodbank, Deeper, Beauchief Baptist Church, Streets of Light, Philadelphia Students, Break the Chains, Form, Go Fest, Upper Room - Four Square & currently working on new projects with Vineyard church.

Training and Consultancy

We’ve delivered training and keynotes at Premier Digital, UCAN conferences, Create Conference, the Church of England Communication Managers, Fresh Streams, the Accidental Church Communicators Conference & we founded and manage the Church Comms Collective.

Questions…

& Answers

We asked a series of questions to help understand your brief and consider whether we could assist to deliver your new site.

Below is our question (in blue), your response (in red) & then our thoughts around that (black).

  1. Which version of Squarespace are you currently using? Version 7.0 Pacific Family BE: The legacy platform (7.0) does have it’s limitations, by moving to 7.1 there would be more creative flexibility as well as ease of use.

  2. What way(s) is the current website not performing? Could better represent our charity. Needs to be more visual. Have our TruthTellers video. Be navigable for users. Then there's the ease of use to upload information. Not sure whether it's the existing settings but adding blogs, pictures, text, everything comes out the wrong way! We're a small charity so I also wear the 'update website' hat. Despite watching copious YouTube videos I find it time consuming and lacking any ease. Ok, I understand your frustrations here. Personally I don’t believe migrating to Wordpress is a remedy for these elements. Instead, I would suggest continuing to use Squarespace and we can give you additional training so you have confidence to develop the website. Some aspects (such as Blog layout) do need to conform to one of 4 template page structures. These have been designed to be as effective as possible from a user experience perspective. Other aspects such as adding videos or updating content should take seconds or minutes so we can demonstrate how easy this is and give you confidence to build on your knowledge rather than using a whole new set up.

  3. Why do you believe Wordpress is a better platform for you going forward? Thinking it might be more user friendly. It’s not in my opinion, but that is down to individual manager experience.

  4. I understand that for charities and NFPs budget is an important element. What are your investment expectations? Indeed...around £3K ideally. Realise dependant on how much work is involved. Again, linking with the point below, I'm wondering whether retaining SquareSpace but rebuilding would help with costs. This is where a quick chat might be helpful! This is really helpful. I believe we can create a beautiful website for you between £1,800-2,000. See the next section for more details.

  5. Are you trying to launch the website for a particular date (or event to coincide with etc)? Our SquareSpace renews on 14 August. I realise the clock is ticking and could be a bit unrealistic to get a new WordPress website up and running for them. Any thoughts? I'm wondering whether SquareSpace can be improved to give both the brand window that matches user expectations. And the behind the scenes functionality for us to add new information. Great thoughts, if we delivered the site using Squarespace we’d be looking at getting it live for you in the next 3 weeks. If that wasn’t possible, I would suggest switching the plan to monthly (rather than annual) and simply paying for 1-2 months whilst the site is being built and then going live.

Proposed Approach

We suggest this approach to your website…

We would migrate your existing website across into Squarespace 7.1 (this is a manual process). We would use the existing content and brand to do so, reworking the navigation, using bold sections to highlight key information and calls to action.

You then have the option of going live at this stage and then updating the content as required whilst the site is live, or you update/change any content prior to doing so. Either way, we would provide training and help you via a Google Meet so you would feel empowered to do so.

We could also make these changes for you if you prefer.

This process helps:

  • Get the website done quickly (without compromising on quality) - we would produce this by the end of July 2023.

  • Avoid job duplication as you would work directly onto the new website

  • You receive training & support

  • There’s consistency in working with Squarespace rather than a learning curve of a new platform (Wordpress, EditorX, Webflow etc)

  • Less financial investment required as once the design/structure and copy is applied, it’s over to you to tweak content.

Investment

£1,600-£1,800.

  • VAT not applicable.

  • +Squarespace charge (you would pay this directly and we can get a 20% discounted rate).

  • We invoice 50% at the beginning of the project and a further 50% upon sign off/go live.

Next steps

  1. Chat through the proposal with us to cover any questions etc.

  2. Agree to proceed.

  3. We invoice 50% at the beginning of the project (50% on final hand over).

  4. Approach timeline agreed and we commence the build!

  5. First review

  6. Second review

  7. Sign off (further reviews available at an hourly rate)

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to work with you.

As members of the Christians in Media Facebook Group we’d love to help deliver this website project for you.

Blessings,

Ben Elliott

Thank you!
